Dayot Upamecano - City are looking to get one over their cross-city rivals Manchester United as they have reportedly opened talks with the RB Leipzig defender (Express, September 13).

Jeremy Doku - Manchester City have shown interest in the Belgium forward and could use Vincent Kompany to land the Anderlecht teenager (Daily Telegraph, September 11) 

Houssem Aouar - City are set to battle Arsenal for the Lyon midfielder's signature (Daily Mirror, September 10)

Kalidou Koulibaly - City want a centre back and they'd like it to be the Napoli defender, but PSG are also interested (Sky Sports, September 10); City are still hoping to sign Koulibaly in a £75m deal - without having any direct contact with his club Napoli (Daily Star, September 8); Manchester City are preparing a second bid for the Napoli centre-back. Their first bid of around €60m including add-ons was €15m short of Napoli's valuation, but the Premier League club hope they can find a compromise with an improved offer in the next few days (The Guardian, September 5); Manchester City remain interested in bolstering their defensive ranks with Koulibaly - despite Messi emerging as their top target (Mirror, August 28).

Courtney Clarke - Manchester City and West Ham have sent scouts to Whyteleafe FC in Croydon to watch non-league teenager Clarke (Daily Telegraph, September 7).

Ben White 'disappointed' Leeds move fell through before signing new Brighton deal, says agent

But when a football club don't want to sell it's very difficult" Ben White was "disappointed" his summer move to Leeds collapsed but is fully committed to Brighton after signing a new deal, says his agent Alex Levack. The 22-year-old spent last season on loan at Elland Road, with Marcelo Bielsa's side unsuccessful with an initial £18.5m offer for the centre-back, before having two further bids of £22m and £25m turned down by Brighton. White, who had two seasons plus the option of a third remaining on his previous contract, had rejected three offers of a new deal from the club but will be part of Graham Potter's squad for 2020/21 after agreeing terms until June 2024. England captain Eoin Morgan feels he is batting better than ever

Injury forces Fancy Blue into retirement

Fancy Blue, who gave Donnacha O'Brien his first two Group One victories in his opening year in the training ranks, has been retired due to injury. The daughter of Deep Impact, owned by Michael Tabor, Derrick Smith and Sue Magnier, got the County Tipperary-based handler off to a dream start when winning the French Oaks at Chantilly in July. She doubled her Group One tally for the 22-year-old O'Brien when lifting the Nassau Stakes at Goodwood later that month. Fancy Blue was third in the Matron Stakes on her only other subsequent start.
